"All Programs" Menu missing

The Problem:-
When you Click Start button and navigate to "All Programs",you find the menu is missing.

Resolution:-
Start>Run>Regedit>ok
Now navigate to the following keys:-
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell FoldersSet Start Menu value to "%USERPROFILE%\Start Menu"

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders Set Common Start Menu value to "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu"

Close the registry editor and restart the machine.

If you find the above process is difficult then you may try this direct registry edit:- 'Remove "All Programs" from Start Menu - Undo'

Go to c:\> or where the operating system installed and check your document and settings folder -> Then right click on it -> go to Property option and uncheck hidden files...

I hope this will help you...

Hi there, I tried both of your suggestions, but to no avail.

This will work.

Start
Run
regedit
ok

then ...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Windows
Current Version
Policies
Explorer

Click on the Explorer folder and the NoStartMenuMorePrograms should be at zero, to do this right click the file and use the modify option to set to 0

when I do this it tells me that the registry editing has been disabled by the admin. Any ideas around this?

If the editing the registry is blocked, there is a program called Advanced Windows Care, that will work wonders on windows computers. One of the things it checks is System Optimization, and under that will be the problem of being unable to change registry. This program will fix that (did for me).

Heh, cut off the link...

http://www.iobit.com

Go there, and go to downloads
Advanced Windows Care Personal... It's free

Also, if it was due to a virus, you might've had other windows problems, like the Task Manager being blocked and such, if this has happened I can walk you through fixing it.

Shoot me an e-mail at AnataSeito@yahoo.com
