The Problem:-Display screen has rotated to 90 degrees clockwise.
The Resolution:-Open Control Panel>Display>Settings tab>advanced, navigate through the tabs to find a rotate display option. This option has come due to the graphic card you have installed. The option should allow you to rotate the display back to its original orientation.

Thanks for having this blog entry, and to wagger for the hotkey combination (which is probably how this kind of thing gets triggered in the first place)! It helped me fix my sister-in-law's display.
Thanks for your kind words.Happy computing.
Wow, thank you so much! Let me tell you, finding this page on a display rotated 90 degrees was enough of a pain... :P
Saved my life! My baby (1,5 year) just rotated the screen 90 degrees - I had no idea what he did...
Haha...Thanks buddy.
Just to clarify the whole keyboard shortcut comment by wagger, it goes like this:
ctrl+alt+ (arrow)
where (arrow) is:
Up arrow - normal orientation
Down arrow - upside down
Right arrow - Right side of screen is top
Left arrow - left side is top.
Much easier than having to go through the properties. :)
Try this. Right click on desk top
select graphics options then go to
rotation and select normal.

Thank you for putting up this problem
wagger solved my problem
After struggling for hours, I called my cousin, who knew how to find the information on Google. He called to tell me what to do. In the meantime, I took the tower into the computer shop and hooking it up on their monitor, it worked fine, bringing it home, I still had the same problem - 90 degree display monitor -- I'm in Vista and no where in the control panel did it lead me to change settings or rotate or anything similar. Thanks for being here!
Thanks,
Pressed Ctrl + Alt + up arrow - Bingo - upright again!
Ctrl + Alt + up arrow - Bingo - upright again.
Thanks
Fortunately I had another computer to search for this solution. The hotkey solution worked great (Gateway Laptop), especially where navigating through Control Panel with my mouse going upside down and backwards would have been a chore.
Thank you for your help. One of my kindergarteners did this to one of my classroom computers, and I had no idea how to fix it. I didn't even know it could happen. You are a lifesaver!
